These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the One Address Ghana mobile app, website, and related services (together, the “Platform”), operated by [Legal Entity Name] (“we”, “us”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
1. Agreement to these terms
By creating an account, downloading the app, or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Data Protection notice, which are incorporated by reference.
2. Who can use the Platform
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Platform. The citizen app is intended for individuals in Ghana. The MMDA web console is restricted to authorised officers and administrators of participating assemblies.
3. What the Platform is — and is not
One Address Ghana helps you create a unified address record for a property — a map pin, descriptors, photos, and a verification status moderated by your local MMDA.
Please understand:
- A verified address is not proof of land ownership, title, or any legal interest in property.
- The Platform is not a government identity service and does not issue any official government document.
- GPS coordinates and descriptors are provided on a best-effort basis and may contain errors.
- “Verification” reflects an MMDA officer's review of the information submitted — it is not a guarantee of accuracy or legality.
4. Your account
- You must provide accurate, current information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account, including one-time SMS codes sent to your number.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
- You may not share your account or create an account for anyone else without authority.
5. Verification and MMDA moderation
Address records are reviewed by the MMDA responsible for the relevant area. Officers may approve, reject, request updates to, or flag records and may approve community corrections. Decisions are made by the assembly at its discretion. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the decisions an MMDA makes, and we cannot guarantee that any record will be verified or remain verified.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, or fraudulent address, identity, or occupancy information;
- register or claim a property you have no legitimate connection to, or impersonate another person;
- upload photos or content that are unlawful, defamatory, obscene, infringing, or that depict people or private spaces without a lawful basis;
- harass, threaten, or violate the privacy or rights of others;
- interfere with, probe, or attempt to bypass the Platform's security, rate limits, or access controls;
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data, or use the Platform to build a competing dataset without permission;
- use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms or applicable Ghanaian law.
We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules.
7. Your content and the licence you grant
You retain ownership of the content you submit (descriptions, photos, proposals — “User Content”). You represent that you have the right to submit it and that it does not infringe others' rights.
You grant us and the relevant MMDA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and use your User Content as necessary to operate the Platform, moderate and verify records, and provide the addressing service — including showing the limited public fields of a verified address that you choose to share.
8. Community proposals, reports & trust score
You may propose corrections to addresses you do not own and report inaccurate or inappropriate records. By submitting a proposal or report, you confirm it is made in good faith. Your trust score reflects your verified contributions; it is an internal reputation signal that we may calculate, adjust, or reset, and it confers no monetary value or entitlement.
9. Photos and the privacy of others
Only upload photos of property you are entitled to photograph. Avoid capturing identifiable individuals, vehicle number plates, or the interiors of homes you do not control without consent. You are responsible for ensuring your uploads comply with the law and respect others' privacy.
10. Intellectual property
The Platform — including its software, design, branding, the “One Address Ghana” name and logo, and all related content (other than User Content and MMDA data) — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Platform for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works except as permitted by law.
11. Third-party services
The Platform relies on third-party services (for example mapping, SMS delivery, image hosting, and the app stores). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
12. Availability, updates and beta features
We aim to keep the Platform available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. The Platform may be offered as a pilot/beta, in which case features may change, and we may require you to update to the latest version to keep using it.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, or where required by law. On termination, the licences you granted for User Content already incorporated into verified public records may survive to the extent necessary for the integrity of the register; otherwise, sections that by their nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
14. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that address data, GPS coordinates, or verification statuses are accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular use, including official, legal, or emergency purposes.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or property arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Platform — even if we have been advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform is limited to [the greater of the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months (if any) or GHS 500]. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us and participating MMDAs harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Platform, or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. The courts of Ghana have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any requirement to first attempt good-faith resolution or mediation. [Add any preferred arbitration or venue clause here.]
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Continuing to use the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
